Burger Bash this year took a little twist. Our neighbor, The Cerritos Bahia Yacht Club, had scheduled a fund-raising event that conflicted with our Burger Bash. So, it was decided to support their event and purchase their BBQ Rib Lunches. This would save the SCTC from sourcing and cooking our traditional Burger Bash, (BBQ Burgers and Hot Dogs), while supporting a worthy cause.
In conjunction with the Burger Bash/ Rib Cook-Off, the Yacht Club also conducted a Fishing Tackle Swap Meet. Co DeCoudres, our Tackle Day Chairman, and his sales team of John Lavarias, Ron Herbst, Victor Katkov, and Steve Sproule, took advantage of the swap meet and sold most of the remaining tackle from Tackle Day back in April. This resulted in over $2000 of additional revenue for the Tackle Day fund.
As tradition with Burger Bash, SCTC members are invited to bring and display their vintage cars. Unfortunately, this year’s participation was exceptionally light due to limited space in the parking lot and concern about security for the vintage cars.
In all, 79 SCTC members and their family and friends showed up to support the event and purchase SCTC logoed apparel. A special thanks to Shirley Tysseland for serving ice cream to our attendees, which was no easy task. Shirley was the only volunteer server for the event.
The Club looks forward to returning to its traditional Burger Bash and Vintage Car Show in 2023.
