The 2022 Past Presidents Dinner was well attended this year with 56 members and guest. The evening began with cocktails and wild game hors d’oeuvres carefully crafted by fellow members.
Hank Brown began the event asking all present to raise a glass in toast.
“To all out SCTC Past President’s thank you for your leadership, commitment, and service. It is because of your legacy I am honored to welcome you to the Southern California Tuna Club in its nine-eight year.”
The evening continued with the cocktails and fish tales while many members begin to seek out the master of the raffle John Lavarias in hopes of the lucky ticket and a chance at winning one of the quality raffle prizes. Hanks special guest and Master of Illusion, Mr. Jeff Parmer preformed individual table magic to small groups of members prior to Jeff’s main performance.
Pernilla Scott (Two Swedes Catering), and her crew provided a wonderful meal of braised pork, scallop potatoes and glazed carrots while members participated in great fellowship with a few questionable stories being told.
With dessert of key lime pie having been served, Mr. Jeff Parmer took the stage to begin one and a half hours of outstanding magic and illusions. At one point Jeff asked Dan Mundy for a $20.00 dollar bill, which Dan answered, “Hell No”. Dan continued by handing Jeff a $1.00 dollar bill instead. Jeff took the bill from Dan, handed it back to him, and had him tear it up into small pieces. Jeff then made the bill disappear and looked confused as to where it might be. Jeff now begins to look at the flower vase beautifully decorating each table, then selecting one Sunflower from one of the vases. Jeff pulls out Dans dollar bill from the bottom of the stem producing Dan’s $1.00 dollar bill completely put back whole. Other members were asked to join Jeff upfront where he continued to baffle the group with amazing illusions.
It was a great evening honoring our Past Presidents which would have not been possible without the help of members who provided the hors d’ oeuvres.
