SCTC 2022 Pheasant Hunt
COVID-CANCELLED AGAIN IN 2022
Co-Chairmen: Chuck Becker & Paul Rybak
Unfortunately, the SCTC sanctioned annual Pheasant Hunt was cancelled because of Covid. None-the-less several of the members indicated their desire to spend a day hunting at High Desert Hunt Club on the day the hunt had originally been planned. Each hunter hunted independent of Southern California Tuna Club and made their arrangements directly with HDHC. High Dessert Hunt Club extended special pricing to each of our hunters. Kent Jackson and his dog Remi “The Wonder Nose”, guided Tyler Jackson and Don First. Yours truly and my dog Gillie, “The Tejon Flash”, guided Lynn Fasnacht and Mike Lininger.
They enjoyed a bright, chilly morning as they arrived at the Adobe Clubhouse of High Desert Hunt Club. The fire blazing in the clubhouse fireplace took the chill out of the cold morning while we enjoyed juice, coffee, sweet rolls and completed the paperwork associated with the ranch requirements and our California Hunting Licenses. We all watched a video covering safety, ranch rules and the schedule for the day.
At 8:00 am we drove a short distance from the Adobe to our assigned hunting fields. There was separate field for each of our two groups and each held 30 Chukar. During the next 4 hours it was hit or miss…but by noon we had an outstanding result for both the dogs and hunters despite a brief shower
Our thanks to HDHC for a great job hosting our hunting SCTC Members. Members are looking forward to their hunt in 2023.

Note:
The HDHC is near Lebec, Ca. and is part of Tejon Ranch, one of the oldest and the largest single ranch property in California. The first Europeans traveled through the area now comprising Tejon Ranch in 1772, when California was under Spanish rule. In 1993 the Tejon Ranch celebrated its 150th Anniversary.
