Welcome back to the Southern California Tuna Club in our 97th year.
- Dr. Chris Lowe is requesting Members to save Tuna heads for his research. The heads can be frozen or fresh. Contact Chris if you have tuna heads.

Good Cheer Report:
Pres Smith had surgery, and is at home recovering. He hopes to be back in time for
the Fall Stagg Trip.
Vic Rains is feeling better, he is at home and would like some phone calls, on his
cell phone, e-mail and jokes.
Weight Slips:
No weight slips were turned in this week.
Fishing reports:
Dennis was out fishing around Oceanside, there was some Tuna action, but none
were caught.
Ken Huss and a group of members are out on the Option, The word is that they
have caught several White Seabass and are now at the Tanner and Cortes Banks,
and the Big Tuna are biting. More information next week.
Dan Mundy is going out to the Tanner and Cortes Banks this weekend.
Past Events:
The Kids trip will be having their awards banquet on Friday September 17th, at the
Club House, beginning at 5:30 P.M. There will be Pizza, Salad and games. Everyone
is welcome, RSVP with Thom Ryan or Andrew Weiske.
Future Events:
The Cedros trip on September 17th, has 1 opening. Al Hermer just spoke to the
resort and they suggest everyone to bring at least 50 lb test, as a minimum. They
said anything light they are unable to stop them.
Joe Vicic reminded us that the Stagg Trip will be on October 1st and 2nd. He
currently has 13 boats. Get your checks and forms in.
The IGFA SoCal Swordfish Open in Newport Beach is on November 11-13, fishing on
the 12th and 13th. No Club Team… Max 4 anglers per boat. Catch and Release
prizes for fish under 100 lbs. Weigh Stations San Diego, Newport, and Ventura for
fish over 100 lbs. The cost is $300.00 per angler. IGFA rules apply. Contact Gus
Chabre for additional information.
